Mahindra has finally offered the first official look at its upcoming SUV, the XUV7XO, and the teaser confirms that the updated model will break cover on 5 January 2026. The new SUV is essentially the next evolution of the XUV700, but Mahindra seems to be giving it a more premium identity with fresh styling and feature upgrades.
A New Direction in Design
The teaser hints at noticeable visual changes. Mahindra has reworked the front section with a redesigned grille and a new headlamp setup that appears more modern and sharper than before. The SUV also gets connected taillamps, which instantly give it a more contemporary look from the rear.
Mahindra seems to be borrowing inspiration from the XEV 9e for the overall front design. Expect a revised bumper, a cleaner DRL signature, and possibly new aero-focused alloy wheels. The side profile, however, is unlikely to undergo major changes, as the basic structure and dimensions are expected to stay the same.
At the back, the introduction of a full-width light bar and a slightly updated bumper suggests that Mahindra wants the XUV7XO to look more futuristic without altering the metal panels on the doors, bonnet, or fenders.

Mahindra has not revealed the interior yet, but early indications suggest a more tech-rich cabin. One of the major highlights could be a triple-screen layout, similar to what we have seen on the XEV 9e. This would give the dashboard a cleaner, more premium appeal.
The SUV may also come equipped with features like a Harman Kardon audio system, rear-seat entertainment through the BYOD feature, and an auto-dimming IRVM. Most features from the current XUV700 will likely carry forward, ensuring continuity for existing users while adding new technology for the facelift.

Powertrains and Transmission Options
Mahindra is expected to continue offering the same engine options that currently power the XUV700. The lineup includes a 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine and a 2.2-litre turbo diesel engine.
The petrol unit delivers 200bhp and 380Nm, while the diesel engine comes in two states of tune, producing up to 185bhp and 450Nm depending on the variant. Both engines will remain paired with 6-speed manual and automatic gearbox options.
This means Mahindra is keeping the proven powertrains intact while focusing its R&D on styling updates, interior enhancements, and added features for the facelifted model.
