The midsize SUV segment in India is gearing up for a busy season, with several new models lined up for launch. Buyers will soon see a mix of updated petrol SUVs and brand-new electric options entering showrooms. From new-generation versions of popular models to long-awaited EVs, the coming months promise plenty of excitement for SUV enthusiasts. Here’s a closer look at the five upcoming midsize SUVs.

New-Gen Kia Seltos – Launch on 2nd January

Kia is preparing to roll out the next-generation Seltos, and bookings have already started across the country. The official price will be revealed on 2nd January 2026, followed by deliveries in mid-January.

The new model is noticeably larger than the outgoing version, offering more length, width and wheelbase. Its exterior takes inspiration from the Kia Telluride, giving it a more imposing front end. Kia is also adding several segment-first features to the SUV while continuing with the current engine lineup. The overall package aims to deliver a more premium experience without changing the proven powertrain options.

New Renault Duster – India Debut on 26th January

Renault is bringing back the Duster in an all-new avatar. The third-generation model will be unveiled on 26th January 2026. Based on the CMF-B platform, the updated Duster will carry a fresh design language and a more refined cabin.

For the Indian market, Renault is expected to offer two turbo-petrol engines: a 1.0-litre unit and a 1.3-litre option. The new platform and updated features suggest a more premium and modern feel compared to earlier generations, while still keeping the Duster’s rugged character intact.

Skoda Kushaq Facelift – Scheduled for Mid-January

The 2026 Skoda Kushaq is set to receive a mid-cycle update. While the exterior changes will be subtle, the new model will introduce key feature additions. Spy shots indicate that the facelifted version will come with Level 2 ADAS and a panoramic sunroof, two upgrades that significantly enhance the SUV’s appeal.

Skoda will retain its existing 1.0-litre and 1.5-litre TSI petrol engines. However, the 1.0-litre version will no longer use the 6-speed automatic gearbox. Instead, it will move to a new 8-speed automatic transmission, which should improve refinement and driving comfort.

Tata Sierra EV – Expected in Q1 2026

The Tata Sierra EV is one of the most anticipated electric SUVs in the country. Tata plans to introduce it in the first quarter of 2026. The EV will follow a design theme similar to the ICE version, but with EV-specific styling cues inside and out.

Although official numbers are yet to be released, the Sierra EV is likely to use the 65kWh and 75kWh battery packs seen in the Harrier EV. This suggests that the Sierra EV will offer a practical driving range suitable for both city and long-distance use.

Maruti e Vitara – Launching in Early 2026

Maruti is gearing up to enter the midsize electric SUV market with the e Vitara. The model is expected to go on sale in early 2026 and will be offered in three variants: Delta, Zeta and Alpha. Buyers will be able to choose between 49kWh and 61kWh battery options.

In international markets, the smaller battery delivers a claimed range of 344km, while the larger pack offers up to 542km under the WLTP cycle. These figures indicate that the e Vitara will be positioned as an efficient and practical EV for everyday users.

Final Thoughts

With petrol, turbo-petrol and all-electric SUVs entering the lineup, the midsize SUV segment in India is about to become even more competitive. The new-generation Kia Seltos, a refreshed Renault Duster, the updated Skoda Kushaq, and the upcoming EVs from Tata and Maruti each bring their own strengths. Buyers looking for modern design, advanced features or long-range electric options will have plenty of choices in 2026.
